Ingredients

  • 1 French baguette or Italian bread 250-300 g
  • 4 tablespoons 55 g unsalted butter, softened
  • 3-4 fresh garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup 50 g mozzarella cheese, optional
  • 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese optional

Method

  1. Preheat the oven: Set the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Make the garlic butter: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, and salt until well combined.
  3. Prepare the bread: Slice the baguette in half lengthwise or cut it into thick slices, depending on how you want to serve it.
  4. Add the garlic butter: Spread the garlic butter generously over the cut sides of the bread.
  5. Add cheese: For cheesy garlic bread, sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan evenly over the top.
  6. Bake: Place the bread on a baking tray and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden and crispy. For a more golden top, broil for 1-2 minutes at the end, watching carefully.
  7. Serve: Let the garlic bread cool for a minute, then slice and serve warm.
