Indian Masala Chai

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons strong black tea
  • 4 green cardamom pods
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 small piece fresh ginger
  • 2-3 black peppercorns
  • 2-3 teaspoons sugar or to taste

Method
 

  1. Lightly crush the cardamom pods, black peppercorns, and ginger to release their flavors.
  2. Add the water, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and black pepper to a saucepan.
  3. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then simmer for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Add the black tea and simmer for another 1-2 minutes.
  5. Pour in the milk and add the sugar. Simmer gently until the chai becomes hot and fragrant.
  6. Strain the Masala Chai into cups and serve warm.
