Lablabi: The Simplest Chickpea Dish

Ingredients
  

  • Chickpeas: 1 cup soaked 12-24 hours
  • Onion: 1 large
  • Salt pepper, turmeric, garlic powder: as needed
  • Oil: 2 tbsp for frying onion

Method
 

  1. Step 1
  2. Chop the onion and fry it with a little oil and spices in a deep pot until soft. (Do not add salt yet.)
  3. Step 2
  4. Add chickpeas and pour in 2 cups of hot water. Cook for about 2 hours until the chickpeas soften. Add salt at the end.

  6. Serve with thyme powder, lemon juice, or bread for a richer flavor.
