Ingredients
  

  • For the dough:
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/5 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • Salt as needed
  • For the filling:
  • 500 g minced meat
  • 2 onions chopped
  • 1 tomato chopped
  • Aromatic herbs as desired
  • Salt pepper, turmeric (to taste)
  • Oil for frying
  • Optional:
  • 1 egg yolk for brushing when baking
  • Sesame seeds for topping
  • Carrots or potatoes as filling alternatives

Method
 

  1. Step 1:
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, water, oil, and salt. Knead for about 10 minutes until you get a smooth dough. Cover with a cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  3. Step 2:
  4. Chop onions and fry them in a little oil until golden. Add minced meat, spices, herbs, and tomatoes. Cook for 10 minutes, then remove from heat and let cool.
  5. Step 3:
  6. Divide the rested dough into 15 portions. Roll into small circles. Place filling in the center, then fold into triangular or round shapes.
  7. Step 4:
  8. Frying option: Heat oil and fry until golden brown.
  9. Baking option: Place on a baking tray, brush with egg yolk, sprinkle sesame seeds, and bake at 180C (350F) for 20 minutes.
