Instructions (Step-by-Step)
Prepare the Dough (10 minutes)
Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let rest 10 minutes until bubbly.
Add flour and salt; knead until smooth.
Add oil and keep kneading for a soft, elastic dough.
Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
Shape the Simit (15 minutes)
Divide dough into 6 portions.
Roll each into two long ropes.
Twist the ropes together, then form a ring shape.
Prepare the Coating (1 minute)
Mix molasses and water.
Dip each ring into the mixture.
Coat generously with sesame seeds.
Bake (20-25 minutes)
Preheat oven to 220 C (430 F).
Bake until golden and crispy.
