Vavishka (Traditional Northern Iranian Dish)

Vavishka is a quick and easy minced meat dish from Northern Iran, rich in protein, full of flavor, and perfect to serve with rice or bread

Ingredients
  

  • 300 g minced meat beef, lamb, or chicken
  • 2 onions chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tomatoes chopped
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 potatoes diced and fried
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: parsley or cilantro for garnish

Method
 

  1. Heat oil in a pan, sauté onions until golden. Add garlic, turmeric, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add minced meat, stir until browned.
  3. Add chopped tomatoes and tomato paste, cook until softened. Add ½ cup water, cover, and simmer.
  4. Meanwhile, fry potatoes until golden.
  5. Serve Vavishka hot with rice or bread, topped with fried potatoes and fresh herbs.
